5 Common Heater Issues You Can Solve at Home

During the winter season, it's extremely frustrating — possibly even extremely uncomfortable — when your heater isn't working properly. As a homeowner, you sometimes need to know a few tips and tricks to help you fix common problems on your own. In some cases, a heater issue is something you can easily fix without calling an expert and handing over a fistful of money. Here are five common heater issues you can solve at home.

The Controls Are Not Working

If you're unable to adjust the thermostat to the right temperature, you may be dealing with faulty controls. In some cases, you can easily fix this problem by replacing the batteries. If this doesn't work, try resetting the thermostat by following the instruction guide provided by your manufacturer. (Look for it online if you can't find it.) If neither of these options work, check for tripped circuits in your electrical system. Finally, open the thermostat to see if there's a visible problem with the wiring. Burning Smell from the Heater
